The painter Amoako Boafo’s portraits evoke a strong sense of identity, connecting with the Black diaspora through his hands-on technique and capturing their intense gazes with striking authenticity.

This project focused on designing a book that reflects Amoako Boafo’s artistic identity through a sense of tactility, presence, and viewer engagement. Inspired by Do You See Me, the concept emphasized creating space for both the artwork and the individuals portrayed, using tight margins, gallery-like layouts, and tactile elements such as an embossed jacket to mirror his expressive, hands-on approach. The final design balances clarity with emotional depth, demonstrating how thoughtful use of space and materiality can enhance storytelling and deepen the connection between artwork and audience.
